Laser Perforation

MLT offers Laser Perforation Systems, with two differing technologies, to satisfy the highest production, precision and quality requirements.

Depending on the customer needs, specifications and the perforation pattern of the material involved, either the Optical Multiplexing Technology or the Scanner Technology will be implemented.

Both perforation procedures can generate holes or blind holes with the highest quality regarding the hole shape, diameter and hole-to-hole distance.

The spectrum within the packaging industry wherein our systems can be implemented ranges from fresh and convenience food to medicinal and chemical products. Our systems are applied when treating film for Modified Atmosphere Packaging (MAP), Easy Ventilation and Breathable Films, the aim being shelf life extension of fresh produce by generating a balance between the gas exchange of CO₂ and O₂ in the package.

MLT offline laser perforation systems are currently applied worldwide in the tobacco and paper industry for the perforation of cigarette tipping paper. Our systems enable the production of Light and Ultra Light cigarettes with reduced tar and nicotine. Laser perforation guarantees adherence to the corresponding limits set for the production of modern filter cigarettes.
