The problem: Some manufacturers of laser cutting machines can only offer their standard solutions. However, these do not take into account your processes or the individual requirements of the production task.
Yet the whole point of investing in machinery is to increase the added value of a process! However, this is precisely not the case when your laser cutting system comes into focus because it represents the bottleneck of your productivity.
The solution, however, is simple: a supplier who takes your process into account exactly and designs the solution accordingly!
At Micro Laser Technology GmbH, the customer takes centre stage. Our range of services is just as individual and customisable as the machines themselves. We endeavour to solve all service and training tasks, whether large or small, in an optimal and customer-specific manner.
When machines and service processes run so well that you no longer even notice them, then we have achieved our goal!
We are at your side throughout the entire life cycle of your laser cutting machine!

High precision: Laser cutting offers extremely high precision and enables the cutting of complex shapes and the finest details.
Clean cuts and low risk of deformation: Since laser cutting is a non-contact process, there is little to no deformation of the material, which is often a problem with mechanical cutting processes. In addition, laser cutting generally leaves clean, burr-free edges.
Versatility: Laser cutting machines can process a wide range of materials, including metals, plastics, wood, paper and cardboard. They can also cut both thin and thick materials.
Speed: Laser cutting is often faster than other processes, especially for complex shapes and contours or when processing thin materials. In addition, setup times are usually significantly shorter than for many traditional processes.
Automation and integration: Laser cutting processes can be easily automated. This increases production speed and reduces the human error rate.
Lower material consumption: The high precision and small cutting gap of laser cutting means that the material can be used very efficiently, which results in less waste.
Less maintenance and wear: Since laser cutting is a non-contact process, there is no wear and tear as with conventional tools, and maintenance is usually less than with mechanical cutting processes.
In principle, laser systems are quite low-maintenance, as it is a contactless technology and, unlike punching, for example, the laser remains "always sharp", i.e. is not subject to mechanical wear.
The recommended maintenance frequency depends on various factors and can vary from manufacturer to manufacturer. The following maintenance work is typically required:
Daily quick check: routine inspection of key components to remove any debris or residue that could affect cutting performance.
Weekly maintenance: Inspection and cleaning of work areas, or extraction lines (dust) to avoid dirt accumulation.
Annual maintenance: More extensive standard maintenance that includes a thorough inspection of the entire system to ensure optimum performance and detect potential problems at an early stage. Depending on the system, this usually takes 0.5 to 2 days. For example, air filters, coolant and minor wear parts are routinely changed; perhaps comparable to annual car maintenance.
Maintenance as required: Depending on the laser source or extraction unit used, parts are automatically monitored and can signal a need for maintenance accordingly.
Less waste: Laser cutting is a non-contact process that generally produces less physical waste, e.g. in the form of sawdust or grinding dust. Often, the amount of raw material waste is also significantly lower, as parts can be cut very close to each other.Lower material consumption: The precision of laser cutting allows parts to be positioned very close together on the material, minimising material consumption.
Energy efficiency: Modern laser cutting machines, especially those that use fibre laser technology, are often more energy efficient than many traditional cutting techniques.
No use of cutting fluids or oils: Unlike some other cutting processes, laser cutting typically does not require the use of cutting fluids or oils that have the potential to enter and pollute the environment.
No tool wear parts: Unlike other cutting techniques that require regular tool changes and associated tool wear, laser cutting does not involve any direct contact tools that wear out and need to be disposed of.
It is important to note, however, that although laser cutting can offer some environmental benefits, energy is still required to operate the machine and potentially harmful vapours or gases may be released from some materials, which need to be extracted and filtered. These factors should be considered in a full environmental assessment.

Integration into the machine control system
In order to effectively integrate a laser cutting machine into a process, individual solutions and sometimes also design adjustments are usually necessary. Many manufacturers do not offer this flexibility.

Laser type and power: Different materials require different types of lasers and power levels for optimal results. Higher laser power typically allows for cutting thicker materials, but can ultimately mean a higher investment. Power should therefore always be matched to the actual process speed required, with all laser sources also capable of being regulated in power.
Focus position and quality: A correctly adjusted focus position and high focus quality are crucial for a clean, precise cut. A blurred focus can lead to an unclean cut and increased heat input.
Cutting speed and gas pressure (gas is mainly used in metal processing): The speed of the laser cut and the pressure of the assist gas can affect the quality of the cut edges and the width of the cut. Cutting speeds that are too slow can lead to excessive heat input and material distortion, while speeds that are too high can result in an incomplete cut.
Material properties and preparation: The type of material, its thickness, temperature, surface properties and cleanliness can all affect the quality of the cut. Dirt, rust, paint or coatings, for example, can lead to a poorer quality of cut.
Machine calibration and maintenance: A well-maintained and correctly calibrated machine can deliver consistently high cutting quality. Wear parts such as the focus lens or the cutting head should be regularly maintained and replaced as necessary.
